I just tried the tub cleaner tip that was floating around Pinterest a few weeks ago.
1/2 cup vinegar heated for 90 seconds in the microwave mixed with 1/2 cup blue DAWN dishsoap in a spray bottle. Shake and spray and leave on for 30 min or so.
I have to say that it did a better job getting up the dark stains on the floor of the fiberglass shower/tubs than any commercial cleaner I've tried. And the DAWN smells better than just vinegar too.

I ended up spraying the same mix in toilets and on countertops because I'm being a lazy cleaner scooting around with my knee on a chair and it worked great at cleaning everything.

I ended up with probably a 2 part vinegar to 1 part dawn and could probably go even lower with same results.

I have tried a bunch of tips from Pinterest. I made some hair spray from liquid fabric softener and water for doll hair that worked pretty well. I've tried some organization tips too.

Pinterest scares me. What is supposed to be a quick look turns into large gaps of missing time. I havene never lost an entire evening. Yet.

I have a similar recipe and like the way it works.

Pinterest is an interesting site, isn't it? So much to look at, and so many DIY to try! My soon to be niece-in-law always posts links in her facebook and I get sucked in every time!

I was dead-set against Pinterest. But I found that people were snagging my photos off our facebook, etsy, and website and posting photos of our glass. So I was kind of forced to join so I could make sure and link photos back to our Etsy page (and I've made a few sales that way). So now I'm trying to make the best of it.

Yes!! I now store my asparagus (and broccoli) in the fridge in glass jars with a little water at the bottom..just like flowers in a vase. They last so much longer. Made me feel a little silly I never thought of this myself!!

Yes, I love Pinterest. I get a lot of ideas for re-use and up-cycling of stuff there, as well as garden inspiration.

Float On - I felt a little funny using it at first - like I was stealing other people's ideas! I was relieved to see that it does link back to the original (I always try to find the original posting of the idea or picture to give the creator full credit.)

You certainly don't have to join it to use it. Several here discussed the homemade laundry detergent, and I have family members who tried and use it. They follow stuff (or rather spent days "liking" or whatever their term it, and don't normally go back. I don't have to join to harvest information.

Ok, Float On, it's peeved I am at you, very very peeved.

Someone had recommended Pinterest to me months ago, I checked it out and I just. didn't. get. it. Don't know why, or what I was doing wrong, but blech.....some sort of Facebook clone maybe, people posting boring stupid links.....nah. Never went back.

Till today, after reading your post. Intrigued with your tub cleaner info, I casually went to the Pinterest homepage, and ended up spending THREE. FREAKING. HOURS. reading/clicking on Julie Someoneorother's Pinterests. Ooh, I could save money trying that! Ooh ooh, that's a great idea for homemade Christmas gifts for me this year. And ooh ooh ooh, speaking of Christmas, even I could pull off that cute thrifty holiday decorating idea (this from someone who has a hard time making herself put up a little 3-ft. Christmas tree). And ooh ooh ooh ooh, that recipe is something I think we'd really like, and that one, and that other one. Ol' Julie really seemed to hit me where I live.

And then this evening I'm back on there, perusing just the home page and getting lost in links and ideas I think I could use. I have 13 new bookmarks. I had to force myself to back away from it, think about fixing something for us to eat tonight, and then come here and berate you for turning me on to Pinterest. Like I NEEDED a new internet addiction.....

:)

Thank you.

Lin, I'm like you at the beginning of your post - and I think I will stay away! Thanks for the warning!

This is off topic but is blue Dawn dish washing liquid bio-degradable? I imagine it would be if they washed all of those poor animals caught in the oil spill with it. In the past I've done the same thing with laundry detergent and also the homemade laundry detergent with Fels Naptha. I wonder if the blue Dawn would work better?

I just spent an hour or so looking at polymer art. Sometimes I peruse thrifting pages. I haven't joined and probably won't.

I'm sorry Lin...... :)

....I have yet to spend that long on there at one time.
And you freaked me out a little because that's my name (Julie) and I was wondering how you found me and then I realized I didn't have that many 'tip' type pins so it has to be another Julie.

LOL, Float On/Julie. What a coincidence eh? No, this Julie had a full page of pins: recipe/food pins, and decorating ones, and Christmas ones, and homemade gift ones, and thrifty homemaking idea ones, and.....on and on and on and on and.....

I'll never join the thing, not my style, but oh my, the learning and ideas I've gotten already from there! I'm gonna have to start some files to start saving idea favorites in some sort of coherent order.

And why oh why didn't anyone ever tell me about the "texting dog" series?!! Seriously hilarious (with R-rated language). I've been seeking them out on there, and I haven't laughed so hard in I don't know when. Tears in my eyes laughing.....

Off-topic. Text from Dog. Found the whole series on Tumblr. If you're a dog lover, and don't mind cussing.....seriously seriously hilarious.
