Last year when I went to the gyno. she told me my bladder is starting to sag. Most of the time I don't notice it at all. I caught a really bad, phlegmy cold and coughed like crazy. Lots of leaking occurred and now I have a bladder infection. I'm sure we'll discuss it at my next appt. which will be probably in January. But I am curious about if anyone has had something like this and had it repaired, how long was the recovery time? Trying to figure out if I need to have it done when would be a good time in the work schedule to have it done. Just trying to think ahead.

Thank you! :)

I for one would not jump to surgery. I believe there are certain exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles in that area and should be what the doctor recommends. I doubt the infection is related to the "leaking".

I would avoid surgery if possible, too. Kegal exercises and Pilates should strengthen the core and pelvic floor muscles. They lose their tone, just like our legs and bum. My guess is that you can fix it yourself. I've been doing the Bikram yoga series again and am amazed at my recovered all over muscle tone. It's work, but totally worth it. I feel so much younger and stronger.

I definitely wouldn't jump into surgery either. I've been dealing with this for a long time too. I have to pee about every 1/2 hour at least and have times of some incontinence.
My OB/GYN suggested a pessary, which I haven't done yet. So that is a non-surgical thing you could try. But I agree about the exercises.
I bought a booklet/DVD called "Hab It", which I haven't even looked at yet.......but it talks about the right and the wrong exercises for strengthening and rehabbing your pelvic floor.
Also, you might try drinking cranberry juice or taking a cranberry pill, which might help you to avoid UTIs in the future.
Good luck!

RE: bladder infection tips - cranberry juice, or tablets, increasing water intake, increasing bladder emptying (don't ever hold it), no baths, showers only, don't sit in a wet bathing suit, use cotton undies and no pantyhose (does anyone wear them?), not only wipe after a b.m., but completely wash with soap and water, pee right after sex, decrease both sugar and wheat in the diet, add yogurt or a probiotic supplement. All of the above have been recommended to me in the past, and at various times have proven effective. YMMV
