Obama is in Denver today, he is across the street from my son's school. I just got a call that he wanted to me excused from school since everyone is going over there to try and see him. Pretty darn cool

I remember when Bill Clinton and Al Gore came to my workplace, I think it was Bill's first run at the White house. That was fun, and a big deal. They set up big speakers and played rock music and I remember thinking: this is the first Presidential candidate who is more or less my age. I don't remember actually seeing him, though--we had to choose to go outside at least an hour before OR stay inside, but away from all of the windows. I chose to stay inside.

I remember when Clinton came to Portland, OR, when I was living there in the early 90's. I worked downtown for county goverment and was one block away from Pioneer Square where he came to speak during lunch hour. I was able to see his head in the distance and due to the speaker system, could hear everything he said. It was really cool. Rob

My sweetie has been volunteering in Las Vegas for the Obama campaign, and got to see him up close and personal on the Sunday before the first debate, when he did a rally there in Las Vegas. He said at that time that he was struck with how tired the President seemed, both physically in how he looked and in his voice, so it really wasn't a big surprise when he turned in such a listless performance in that first debate. I think the guy was running on fumes. He does have a demanding day job, after all, I guess.

He was about twenty-five or thirty feet away from him when he was speaking, but didn't get to shake his hand or anything, and never got any closer than during his speech at the high school.

Gosh, I am so old that I attended Eisenhower's inauguration in 1956, and had really good VIP seats for the swearing in, due to a friend whose dad was in Congress.

I met Barry Goldwater several times socially, back when my boss was one of his big supporters, but both those guys didn't impress me much in those younger days, when I was more or less apolitical and as far as I was concerned, they were just boring old guys, hahahaha

I will give away my age, I played trumpet in the band when Vice-President Ford came to town!

Well, Bill Clinton is a few years older than I am, I said "more or less" my age. Certainly he is my generation--the Presidents prior to Clinton were not.

Me too, while in the Air Force, I stood at attention on the tarmac while President Ford, his wife and daughter and Henry Kissinger dis-embarked Air Force One for an overnight in Anchorage before heading on to China.

Gosh that was a long time ago!

I can top you guys. I attended the graduation ceremony at the Air Force Academy with JFK as the speaker. I was not too old, but old enough to have some lasting distinct memories.

Obama has spoken many times here in the Denver area and I'm sorry I've not gone to see him. I have to screw up some courage to attend big crowd events.

Don't go, those huge crowd things are a mess. I remember standing in a crowd with my mother and grandmother to hear one of the Presidents--I think it was Lyndon Johnson--and the crowd crushing was awful. I can see how people get smothered in crowds, the force is strong. I've avoided that scenario ever since then.
