I'd like to get an inexpensive/free one from Craigslist. Trouble is, most of those are broken. I would think with our handiness we could fix, but anyone have experience? Are the parts expensive? Can they be broken even transporting them over here? What's easy, and what should we stay away from for DIY repair?

I did find this site, but wondering if anyone has firsthand experience in repair. http://www.treadmilldoctor.com/troubleshooting-tests-and-adjustment

Which section? My mother and sister both found theirs via the garage sale section (and waiting for the last day).

We bought a used treadmill on Craigslist about 6 years ago. The electronics don't work on it, but that wasn't a priority for us and we never tried to fix that function. The belt needed replacing a couple years after that, and we were able to do that easily; the part cost about $75.

You might be able to find a manual for it online if you do a search with the name brand and model number... :)
