Will the storm that deciminated part of Northeast affect the presidential election?
Will it benefit the incumbent Pres. Obama or Romney?

I think by this point most people (and I mean MOST) have already decided even though they may not be willing to admit it. I don't think this storm will have much (if any) impact on the outcome.

Obama, because he is in the lead and the storm freezes the election in place for at least a few days. Romney's momentum was already subsiding, but now it is really stalled.

That, and Romney doesn't believe the federal government should be helping out folks during times like these.

I doubt the storm will change anything, but if anyone has a chance to benefit it might be Romney. There are a lot of blue states that got hit by the storm and a lot of big Dem backers that live there. In fact I don't think there was a single state in the path of Sandy that was a solid Romney state. With that kind of lead it seems like the Obama campaign would have no where to go but down if anything were to move at all.

So New York might go red? :)

Anything's possible... I do know that if Romney makes it there he'll make it anywhere.

(not politically related) I can tell you based on the Joplin tornado that some scammers will be the first to benefit. There have been several court cases lately against scammers who took advantage of Joplin residents right after the tornado.

I keep waiting to hear about looters too.

Price gougers! They start charging $10 for a bag of ice, or more!

I was pleasantly surprised with Christie - I watched some of his announcements during the storm, I thought he did pretty well. I also liked that he hasn't politicized his opinion of federal response. He's praised Obama and FEMA for their response, I'm sure he would not have if they had fallen short.

I expect there are some, though, who are less than happy with him saying these things less than 1 week before the election.

I was surprised by him too, creaker. I don't really like the man as I find him a bit coarse, but he does seem genuinely concerned with his state and it's people, politics be damned! That's admirable whichever party!
