Forgive me if I missed an early inquiry. Is anyone planning to write a novel this November? I did this project a couple of years ago and found it to be great frugal fun. I am ready to hit it again this year with a new sort-of plan.

If anyone else is writing, you can find me with the same username I have here...leslieann. I'd like to connect.

Thank you for reminding me I wanted to really do the NaNoWriMo this year, however I have a professional goal of learning Spanish so we will see if that works ou. I will let you know however

I started writing several Novembers, never made the total monthly count yet. I have enjoyed going back and reading what I wrote, even though it seemed trivial and shallow at the time. I want to start again, and reading here reminded me about it. Thanks for the encouragement. I do it as a personal challenge, and while I had an account over there when the site first came up, I haven't been there for a few years.

I am not officially doing NaNoWriMo, but I have outlined a novel and started writing it...once I get going I'm pretty fast. Or used to be - it's been a while since I did any really creative writing. I'm going to block out writing time and make it a real priority for the month of November.

I am. My daughters are doing the kids' version too.

Thanks for the replies...good to know I am not out there alone! When I did this before, it was an exercise for me in trying to create something without my internal critic going wild. So I just wrote and didn't think about it at all, except to get kind of excited about the story. So I did "win" in 2010 but didn't keep my document so I never actually read what I wrote.

My inner critic is a little quieter now, perhaps as a result of that experience, so I do feel ready to try again. Something in me is drawn to writing but I suspect I am more likely a writer of non-fiction than fiction. But for this month, I get to be a writer....(now I just have to start).

Stella, it is great that the girls are also writing their own books. I love this stuff....everyone gets to do it.

Hi -
I was wondering how you all did/are doing with your writing!

I got kind of bogged down in my novel, but recently picked up a book called "The 90 Day Novel (http://www.amazon.com/90-Day-Novel-Unlock-story-within/dp/0983141207/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1357839514&sr=1-1&keywords=90+day+novel)" by Alan Watt. It's like a writer's workshop in a book. In the first 8 days of using it I've written over 60 pages. Good stuff; it reminded me that writing is supposed to be fun!

Great for you, Gardenarian....60 pages. I actually made a decision to let Nano go this year but it wasn't until the end of the first week when I realized it wasn't going to happen. So I decided to go with the "no shame, no blame" and just release it. Seems like things happen when they are supposed to (or maybe that's self serving). Okay, it IS self serving.

But good work on the writing. I am happy to have gotten a few blog posts up in the last several weeks.
