Name the time / (day if you want) that we will know the winner of the election! Please include the time zone.

This is a way for all of us to come together no matter who you want to or think will win!

YAY!

Well, it will be known at 8:01 PM Eastern, as soon as the polls close in Ohio. But I don't think they start announcing until after the polls close in the Pacific Time Zone.

269/269; goes to Congress; December. Not really but it would be somethin', wouldn't it?.

If it comes down to Ohio and it's as close as some are predicting, the time on election day will be irrelevant since we may not know until Nov 17th when the provisional ballots will be counted.

But, being the optimist that I am, I'll go with 11:55pm Eastern on Tuesday, Nov 6th.

I'll pick a good round number. 10 PM tuesday evening. But, I also predict lots of recounts. Every election there are more and more. My husband thinks that if the republicans try the shenanigans like they did in 2000, there will be riots in the streets. Not sure if he was joking or not.

Hahaha...I just got this picture of a tied election. The House puts Romney in as pres and the Senate rams Biden in as veep. Now THAT would be somethin'!!!

Trying to remember when Obama was projected the winner last time--I think it was about 11:00pm? Earlier?? I know it wasn't the middle of the night because there were all kinds of spontaneous parades in the area, and I was up to watch.

So.. I'm going to say 12:13am on November 7.

Oops! I just saw mtlaurel and I are on the same page!

I'm more pessimistic about timing - I'm going to guess not before 11/10 at 5 pm pacific time.

I think by 10 pm central standard time we will know the outcome. (But the squabbling will probably go on until 2016...)

Not sure if its just me or not, but I'm starting to feel less confident guessing that we will know the outcome tonight. Could another Bush/Gore election be upon us? Hoping not.

ETA: Give Ohio to Obama and Florida to Romney and I think Virginia becomes the big swing that could make it 269 to 269. Might be an interesting evening.

Why would you give Ohio to Obama? Early voting figures show Romney with a commanding lead http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121106/NEWS010601/311060015/Ohio-presidential-vote-by-counties?odyssey=nav%7Chead&gcheck=1&nclick_check=1, (for anyone not likely to follow links, that's Romney up by 92K early votes, a 7% lead) and election day voting generally favors Republicans.

I just meant theoretically Alan, on the board game the networks all play where they slide states back and forth to see the outcomes. In the real world I think Ohio is the key and I'm hoping for a Romney victory there.

I only missed it by 10 minutes! Do I win?
I have to admit no great talent at prognostication. I just picked a time. To tell you the truth, I didn't think we would learn so early. I thought it was going to be Florida all over again.

I am glad to be wrong about this, and glad we did not have to get dragged through days of not knowing ..
