HeY Christine I'm glad to see you (and Catherine our other NJ member) are OK and posting. Hope all is well with both of you guys - and anyone else on the east coast. As usual... I'm several days late hearing about the storm and seeing the impact it had. It was pretty shocking! I haven't really spent any time in NJ but I was in Boot Camp in Cape May and remember it as a beautiful historic town.

Hey Spartana, good to see you on the boards. Have you been having any other expeditions lately? I love hearing about your trips...

Yes the storm hit the shore very badly with a lot of wreckage. It will be awhile before it is all cleaned up but now we are expecting a Nor'Eastern coming through so that is very bad timing...

Thanks for your concern! Christine

No trips for me for awhile, although I do feel I should do something to help in NJ but it seems they don't want people to come there to help with the clean up as there isn't enough room and resources for them. Rented a vacation cabin in the SoCal mountain for a couple of months - maybe longer. After that I may try a trip again with the barking dog... depending how brave I am feeling ;-)!

Has this storm caused you any problems with your up coming move to a new house? What about this new storm? I'll be a real hardship for everyone with the new, very cold weather. Hope all you east coasters do OK!

Thanks Spartana for your wanting to help and good wishes.

Yes, the storm has delayed our closing and the mortgage company wants the adjuster to re-inspect the house after the aftermath. We drove by the house and it seemed fine to us. This has really messed up the whole schedule with the movers and the painter, but at least we will know that there is no damage whatsoever.

Staying in a vacation cabin in the SoCal mountains sounds so perfect. What kind of activities are going on down around there? Must be so nice and warm down there!! Hope you have a great time!:)

Well not so warm up in the mountains - will be a balmy 10 degrees this weekend for the low! Maybe even some snow (I hope, I hope!!). Won't be staying up there for too much longer as my sister and I, after discussing it for a year, finally decided to buy a house together near her job. We put an offer in and it was accepted yesterday so may be in the new place, 3 miles from the beach in SoCal, if all goes well, in 6 weeks or so. So soon I'll have a place with a built in house and pet sitter so I can travel a bit more freely without always have to take the Barkinator (my yappy little dog) with me everywhere or leave her with strangers. Looking forward to THAT!

Congratulations Spartana, where you plan to live sounds so great! So much to enjoy with the beach nearby. Do you surf? I can imagine you as a surfer since you are so adventurous...

Glad that you can travel without your dog. I once had one of our dogs in a hotel room with me overnight. I am so glad we were the last room with only one adjoining wall because she barked all night long... I felt so bad for the people staying there. Does your dog at least like riding on your motorcycle? What type of dog is she? Well it's nice that you will have your sister to watch her. Your trips might be more enjoyable for you. Good luck in your house hunt! Let me know what happens.

Thanks Christine - When I get to my computer (not at home now) I'll post a photo of my dog. She's VERY cute but a terror sometimes. I don't have a motorcycle anymore :( but I'd probably teach her to ride on it if I did. That would be so funny. I started a thread about the new place on the "Housing" forum if you want to read more.
