View Full Version : Getting started, other sites you use for motivation and information?

I would like to do more today, but time to clean up and head to work.
Alright, now this might not be too polite, but I think it is still a valid question. I asked in another post, how long this board has been around, and since the change, if the archives were still available for searching. Since they are not, and there was some discussion on trying to get new blood, it made me wonder what other boards/sites do you all use?
Typically, I join a board after searching for some topic and finding posts on that subject. With no lasting archives, we don't have that here. (what I and I am sure others, start to learn from)
Thanks
I read a lot and have the emails sent from Canadian Living magazine and Opara's sites they have a lot of stuff
about money etc. I find when reading on these types of sites they lead you to a lot more....more then you can even
get around to reading.

I go to the dollar stretcher as they have great articles, little newsletters for your email every few days with tips for staying on track and forums. Don't know if they archive them though...:)

I like Mr Money Mustache, Get Rich Slowly, The Nonconsumer Advocate, & The Frugal Girl. I have a bunch of others saved as favorites, but these are the only ones I now visit regularly since I don't want to spend all my free time online.
Are there specific topics you are especially interested in?

I like Gardenweb, and Down To Earth. It's a blog by Rhonda Hetzel. I googled simple living and food and found both of these sites. DTE has a forum, too. I'm also on the Frugal Folks mailing list. I think it's a yahoo group.
I do not regularly use any other sites, just go and look up something when I need information or a kick in the butt.

Amy Dacyczyn's Complete Tightwad Gazette, and Dominguez and Robin's Your Money or Your Life are good resources. Also, The Millionaire Next Door.

Topics I generally find fairly easy. It is hints, tips and tricks I don't see, until I have read about a topic for a while. (nothing currently just a range of subjects)

Used to have one of the books (until a water pipe broke) and will probably look at it again through the library. I remember finding a lot of its hints out on the web now, though. The other two I currently have, and are in my reading cue (too many books, not enough hours).
Amy's site has not been updated in more than a decade, but it contains most of what is in her books.

Mother Earth News has a lot of back articles available on the website. But I mostly use search engines when I need to find an answer.
Do any of these still exist?
Any new ones out there?
