Interesting - it hadn't occurred to me that the whey from processing yogurt would go anywhere but into all those whey protein powders, but I was mistaken. Environmentally (and probably cost-wise as well) it would likely be better for people to strain their own yogurt at home, and use the whey in baking or other cooking.

What an eye-opener! Really makes one think about the byproducts and waste being produced from the manufacturing process of other goods, and just how much of that, is being illegally and improperly disposed of. I would have never thought in a million years, that certain food related byproducts would be such a challenge to redistribute into something else useful.

What an interesting article! I'm glad they are trying to find a good re-use for it - it seems like such a waste!
