I don't know about you, but we have hundreds of rocks from West Coast beaches sitting in baskets, under the bed in shoe boxes, etc. I'm going to find the ones that are the right size, I am thinking half dollar size, then boiling them, drying them, and putting them in a quart canning jar & into the deep freeze. Just in time for party season!

Oh, wow. $48 for 6 chunks of granite? I'm sitting on a gold-mine, so to speak...

Crazy, hunh? Love the idea. All those agates & jet black pieces of granite from Lopez beaches will be so purty in my craft gin n tonic.

Such a unique idea, but so expensive.

Only problem I see, a few cracked/broken glasses along the way.

I JUST today emailed this living social deal to my DH for a gift idea for someone in his family....

Same concept, only $9
They aren't as exquisite as the ones in the OP - those are gorgeous - I LOVE rocks though.
I have many little rocks all over the house from some of my favorite trips/adventures (and I tried my hardest not to take them from national park areas) that connect me to special memories

Neat-O, Mtnlaurel! So nifty being able to heat them, too, for hot drinks!

It is a great idea but do agree that someone might get a small one in their mouth and somehow chip or break a tooth...

I also wonder about the abrasive qualities of such on fine crystal/glass.

I've seen the rocks before, but we ended up with plastic ice cubes that have lights in the middle. Freeze them, bang them on the counter to start the lights then drop them in drinks. Can't say they keep things all that cold, but the kids love the show.

I've seen rocks used for chilling spirits before, but I had not thought of using them as an everyday replacement for ice. That's a cool idea.
