Elf on the Shelf can be used for a variety of purposes during the holidays. We'd like to use ours to encourage more creative thoughtful behavors as well as simple living oriented fun times during the holidays. Please share how your Elf has helped contribute to this. Also has your Elf left some special notes for your kids?

Does your Elf appear occasionally at other times of the year? What does s/he do then?

We like to take country drives during the year and do I'm hoping we'll be driving around to look at the Christmas lights...

I had no idea what an Elf on the Shelf was so googled it and found out it was a book about the naughty and nice observations by an elf between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
