The uninsured

Is there anyone on this board who is insured themselves, but has an uninsured spouse?

Curious about this. I wonder how common it is, and what sort of drawbacks there are to a situation like that.

What kind of insurance do you mean? I'm assuming health insurance, but it's different for Canadians, so didn't want to respond if you are just inquiring about health insurance.

Not uninsured, but my dh is on the state health insurance plan. He pays a certain amount per month, and that amount varies with his income. If our state didn't offer that, he may be uninsured. I have insurance through my work, but adding him would be expensive. I was on the state plan until I got this gig.
