Saw a program recently that told about a device that "denatured" bug bites. It had a spark and was held to a bug bite. It was a small, long, round device that had a spark when a button was pushed on the end. Anyone know what I mean? What is it called? Thanks!!!

Found the answer.....

Oh, that's really neat! I want one...I get terribly itchy mosquito and spider bites!

Super cool! I want one, too! A few years ago (summertime) I bought a nifty little stick (ammonia stick of some sorts) for bug bites (kids). Worked OK, but not as good as advertised.

I have a couple of tubes of Afterbite which contains ammonia and I think it was one of the best inventions ever. I find it very effective and the stuff lasts a long time, too.

Rosa. Did you find you had to apply it multiple times for it to be effective? That's what I found.

Mrs. M: No, once has always worked for me. I've also found it effective on the occasional hive.

Darn... I wonder if the one I bought was different than yours, or maybe just didn't have the same kick? Or maybe, depending on skin types, the sticks react differently on everybody.

I have Afterbite Extra, and it's not a stick, it's a tube of goo. It does say that the active ingredient is ammonia, which makes me wonder if it would work to just dab ammonia on a mosquito bite?

Ahhh... OK, thanks for letting me know, Rosa. The one I have is an actual solid-stick styled one. Good question on the ammonia idea!

Science experiment for next summer!
