View Full Version : Canadian Pharmacies
I didn't think I'd ever buy from them, but I'm considering it now.
DS has psoriasis, and the vitamin D ointment is very expensive. It has gone generic, but with our high deductible health insurance, it will still cost $365 for a small tube!
I see Minnesota has recommended 4 reputable Canadian pharmacies, and I've checked a couple out, and a larger tube would cost $48.00. Its made by the same company that makes the brand name stuff.
Any reason not to??

I think as long as you use the same common sense you'd use to buy from any internet source (making sure it's a reputable company with real customer service, secure ordering, etc.), then it's fine. Can't argue with those prices, that's for sure. I haven't bought anything for us humans (we have great prescription coverage), but I have bought heartworm meds for the dogs from a Canadian pharmacy.

Twice I bought Retin-A from Canadian pharmacies. It arrived by way of slow boat from Mumbai.
The first time I was entirely happy with the purchase. The second time it didn't seem to work, despite the expiration date stamped being well beyond the date it arrived. I don't know if it should have worked better? Who knows.
I don't know if I'd use a Canadian pharmacy again as I have health insurance with prescription coverage and I don't think the Canadian pharmacies are generally cheaper than my co-pay.
For the drug you want, look to disease - specific internet help groups. Those folks will have figured out the best sources for the drugs they need. It can be hard to find a credible group, the internet being what it is.

I've used Canada Drugs.com for years. However lately it seems their prices are almost on par with US ones. I do appreciate the way this pharmacy tells you the country of origin for each drug you're inquiring about. I'm OK if the drugs come from the UK but some come from India, which makes me a little nervous. Is that bad?
Be sure you know where your drugs come from, that's so important.
As a Canadian, I encourage you to seek the best bang for your buck, but before ordering, I would personally contact the Pharmacy you plan on doing business with, and ensure the product(s) are being shipped from Canada, and are of Canadian origin, or at best, the comparable of.
Good suggestions about knowing exactly where the drug is made. Thanks!
