It is in the living room and our house is toastier and drier than it has been in years.

We thought about it for a long time, but it is one of the best investments we have ever made. We live on an island in BC on the west coast of Canada. Lots of wood here.

Anyone else love making a fire in the evening?:)

Whadja get? We heat with a Rais Bora. Love it! And, which island? I lived in the American Gulf, aka the San Juan, Islands for nearly 20 years, and heated with wood.

It's how we heat our house in the American Gulf as well. (Silly Pig war...)

Dh and I are looking forward to that ourselves. :) There's another place we were looking at (another beach house) that has one. :) We are just wondering if it's too "distant" for us. It's only 20 minutes from downtown, but it feels very rural because it's out of the city.

We had 2 in our house in upstate New York, an old Vermont Castings that we got for 200 from Pennysaver and a newer Lopi that we got for 450 at a garage sale. They probably saved us 10 thousand over the years we lived there.

And the radiant warmth--I cannot WAIT to get another one. Unfortunately, we left them with house when we moved, but I know the right one will come along when we have the right house. Best thing EVER.

We use the fireplace in livingroom from 6am to 4pm and the airtight Napoleon stove in basement from 4pm til bedtime and then if needed the electric heatpump/furnace kicks in. Lovely steady and dry heat plus the ability to dry our laundry each week when I can no longer linedry outside.

Have fun with your stove, Kally, get it cleaned each year by a ceritfied pro and by doing so, will positively impact your house insurance rate.

We heat our home with a Waterford wood stove. It is nice to watch the dancing flames. It is our primary heat source and does a great job of keeping us warm. We live in the Sieeras and it does get cold. We got almost 2 feet of snow over the weekend and are to get more snow tonight.

We love our wood burning stove. It provides a constant heat. It does not get hot and cold like central heating.

Enjoy your new woodstove. We got ours about 4-5 years ago and love it. Our grown son is visiting for the holidays now and is allergic to many types of trees, so can't burn wood when he's home so I'm missing that warm heat. (But glad son is home lol)

Can't wait to get one for us. Lucky you. Glad you are enjoying it!
