Okay gang, I have laminate in the kitchen and of course it gets messy. So I clean it with a mop that sort of sprays a water/cleaner mixture for laminate floors. Then it is all dull and streaky and it drives me crazy. I need to wash or clean this floor regularly, so what on earth do you use? Thanks

I use vinegar and water for my all-purpose cleaner. Sometimes you have to get on the floor and polish it to keep it from beading/streaking, but overall, I love the vinegar (except for the smell, but that evaporates, or you can throw in a couple of drops of essential oils).

Exactly. The purists use vinegar and water. (Catherine, you are obviously a purist.) But I've washed windows with vinegar and it streaks...

So, I guess unless you use nothing but water your going to have some kind of residue.

I bought a floor cleaner (I think it's Hoover) about 2 years ago. I don't use it often but I used it this week and it is SO MUCH CLEANER than just flinging the mop around. It takes a lot longer but does a much better job. I use pine cleaner in it.

I have old vinyl and use a microfiber cloth wrapped on a sponge mop. I only use water to wash- wring it well, put it on the mop and it seems to clean pretty well without streaks...but to be honest, I'm not too picky.

You should ONLY clean a laminate floor with water!!

I vacuum mine, then mop with water, and be sure to dry with a towel. Then it looks perfect!

just to catch you up. I gave up. I bought an industrial rubber backed carpet piece and just ran it in the area where the laminate was getting all the water. Looks better to me.

My daughter in law said the secret to mopping laminate floors is to use vinegar in water and wring the mop (in my case a towel) till it is almost dry and mop in the direction of the grain of the floor. That has worked for me. Our whole house is laminate and it has been a snap.

The less water the better. I sweep or vac or dry mop most weeks. About once every 6 weeks I'll use a damp mop with vinegar water. Mine looks like the day it was laid down 8 years ago.
