I love Queena's art. She really depicts what life was like in the early 1900's. I believe she was born in 1899.

You can take a look at her art work here. Warning for any vegetarians there are two pictures that have to with butchering...I just don't look at them.

Planning on buying a lot of her favorite pictures of mine to hang in the new house...

I love her work, too. I used to have a little book with some of her paintings. It is really nice to be reminded of her art. Thank you so much!!!!

Is it a ghost or a curtain?

I love Queena's art! My Mother painted folk art in a similar style and I have her artwork throughout my house... Folk art warms my heart.

I really don't think that is a ghost in the window, but a curtain pulled back, as there is another in one of the other windows...

Wonderful work!

I see the ghost, Peggy!

I lost myself in, "Country Auction Sale". Can anyone spot me in the crowd? How about you, are you there?

It's a ghost, not at the window. Mrs M sees it. Look again. I'll check back this afternoon and see who spots it.;)

Hint, to all who can't see the ghost... The harder you look for it, the less likely you'll be in seeing it.

I don't see the ghost and I just had my DH look - he said it is on the tree???? I don't see it! LOL

ROTFLMAO, Wildflower!

Hint... the ghost isn't on, or in the tree. http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/smileys/teehee1-smiley.gif?1292867687

OK, well I wasn't able to get back here yesterday afternoon. So, did anyone else see it? No?
Here's another hint. The ghost is busy doing some chore. And you are 'all washed up' if you don't see him/her now.;)

I thought you may be talking about a bucket being poured into a barrel but there is a line on the bucket that goes to the limb of the tree above it...so I wasn't sure...:)

I didn't see the ghost either but thought you guys might be talking about the very dim and somewhat see thru image of what looks like a ghost next to an old fashioned double globe oil lamp on a table just inside the front door. When I enlarged thee photo you can see the rope that holds up the bucket so that ain't no haint a doin' that!

I also like folkart (and have several prints similair to these by more New Englishy) but I'm not sure "Totin' Water from the Crick" or killing and cleaning chickens would fit into my version of simple living life. I mean, it involves doing a lot of that horride "W" word after all ;-)!

That's it! But if you look at that 'line' it is just one of the boards on the house. Those 'lines' go on down the side of the house. I'm guessing she meant to add someone pouring the water but just forgot.

LOL! That's the point! You can't 'see' a ghost, but you can see what the ghost is doing.:)

By the way, I love these paintings. Kind of reminds me of Grandma Moses, or her son, who painted a bit more detail.

I'm guessing she meant to add someone pouring the water but just forgot.I think it is a line holding the bucket and not a ghost because even though the line looks like the side of the house, it doesn't continue down below the bucket. There is also a little hook-thing on the buckets handle that the line looks like it attaches to. BUT it does look like a very scary ghostly face is staring out of the back window right next to where the curtains are tied. Booooooooooo...... :-)! This is making me want to go see that new horror story "Mama" The previews just about scared me to death!

After looking at it closely again, I think Spartana might be right....

Ghost or no ghost, thank you so much for posting this! I've never heard of Queena before and really love her work. Thanks!!

Actually, on closer look, I still believe the 'line' is the wall board, as the bottoms of the boards are blurred elsewhere. However, because of the angle of the bucket, and where it is, I think it is actually hanging on a nail on the wall near the rain barrel in order to dip out the water when needed. Having it hang on a string at that angle would be pointless, but having it on a nail near the barrel would make sense. What do y'all think?

I thought the bucket was hanging on a nail the first time I saw it and still do.

Darn... I don't see the nail/hook on the handle, so am sticking with the ghost idea. Makes the picture that much more interesting/mysterious/spooky.

I think you may be right Peggy. I guess it's time for me to start wearing glasses!!
