This just in from Arizona.....good news!

I have good news from the state of Arizona and a kudos for Jan Brewer, our Republican governor, one individual I thought I'd never be saying anything nice about. But here she has earned it in my book and I am willing to eat my prior words about her.

This news is a day old BTW, I just read it in the Arizona Republic today.

Governor Brewer - a very conservative Republican - is wanting to expand Medicaid coverage in Arizona for those earning up to 133% of the federal poverty level. I am utterly amazed, I really am. As I have said before, one of the reasons I stay here is because out of nowhere, when you least expect it, Arizona will get very liberal on you - I guess it is like what I posted about Austin, it is not just a one-dimensional place by any means, though the media has portrayed Arizona as such time and time again.

So - Kudos to Jan Brewer - and apologies for some of what I have said/thought about the lady. Rob

I'm loving her sense of humour too, something I didn't think she had. One of her lines from the State of the State speech she made yesterday at the state capital was, "We can't wag our finger at the Federal Government. Trust me, I tried that once." (This was a reference to her famous picture having been taken at the Phoenix Airport waving her finger at Barak Obama, something that went viral around the world, too.) Rob
