I guess it didn't work. I am an idiot on the computer...

Well, it worked in the practice forum but the same screen did not pop up when trying it here...if you want to see the view of my living room, please go to the practice forum!

Thank you Alan!

Anyway, my living room has been an ongoing work in progress for the past 15 years - last night I finally got rid of the icky, grungy, dusty 15 year old broken el-cheapo plastic mini-blinds and hung a fabric shower curtain I got for $9.99 at Meijers in the front window. Too cheap to purchase the fancy metal rings to hang it with, I instead used some natural twine to tie it up onto the existing curtain rod. You should have seen it this morning when I woke up and the sunrise bathed the room in a nice warm peachy glow! I love my townhouse!

Nice! I love the colors and the way the accessories and art tie it all together.

That lounge chair in the corner looks like a really comfy place to read! Or nap!

Home-sweet-home! Beautiful! Love the standup lamp and wall clock! And, Peggy, the corner lounge is already spoken for! It's all mine! LOL!

Love the checkered Kleenex box! Hand-knitted?

SiouxQ: it's lovely, truly lovely. Warm and homey.

(and I'm a little disgusted: I have a very similar shower curtain in my bathroom, yours is just as pretty as curtains as mine is in the bathroom, and I spent 4 times as much for the darn shower. I couldn't wait, I just had to get the bathroom done, I had to buy something and get it done.....when will I learn patience?)

I love the copper/burnt orange/redishes/browns-tones you've done. Just like in my bathroom.

This is the second pic that has been posted of someone's living room lately, (was Black Dog the other one? - my mind is blank on that right now), anyhow I just wanted to say that I think this is a great idea! It gives us peeks into "real people's" homes, not magazines or HGTV homes. I am enjoying this and I think especially so because I am, for some reason, experiencing a desire to "do SOMETHING" to my house. Being frugal means I don't go out and hire a decorator or shop for all new stuff - just a few good inspiring ideas and some paint maybe. Thanks for posting and maybe we can start a thread for this.

Nice use of colors, SiouxzQ! Is that a quilt over the couch?
I agree, it would be a fun thread. Kitchens, too, would be interesting.

Thanks all!
@Mrs. M: the kleenex box is from Kroger, $1 per box. I choose the ones that match my decor. It WAS a wall clock (yard sale, clock part broken), and I turned it into an art project (it's hard to see here, but there are wings sprouting out of the sides).
@Rosemary: that is a wool blanket that was given to me a while back.

I looooove orange, as you can see. And spring green; it is kind of a strange color combination but I think it works. I feel so warm and cozy in my living room. It's all stuff I have collected and acquired over the years. The futon couch and the orange lounger were purchased new (the ONLY furniture I have ever purchased new) with some of the proceeds from a long ago worker's comp case. Everything else I inherited, got second hand, or made. Next I will post a picture of the maple china cabinet I repainted last summer - it came out really cool!

I'm an artsy type and I remember this fantastic piece of advice from a design teacher. Go to a fabric store or place that sells beautiful wrapping paper and get a sample of different patterns whose colors speak to you. Then you Pull all of these colors and they will work together. in a room design for rugs, wall colors etc. People who design fabrics and wrapping papers have years and years of color theory etc.

The Kleenex box is chic, SiouzQ! With the wall clock, were you able to turn it into a sort of curio wall display? Where all the insides are gone, leaving space inside to store something special?

Another visual treat--love the warm colors and the graphic blanket.

I love orange and red together and that danish style chair is cool!

The wall clock is basically an empty cabinet that I collaged into and around. When I have more time I will try to post a clearer picture of it.

That would be great, SiouzQ!

P.S. Can't wait to see your china cabinet! Major weakness of mine... china cabinets, old bookcases, armoires, and vitrines!

Ooo! I LOVE these colors. And the midcentury table. Looks like a sweet place to hang out... And the curtains are perfect.

Great inspiration! (and I love the frugal draperies!) Hope others will post their home makeovers as well.

Lovely! What a warm space. I have a novel that could take some time on your lounger if you were inclined to share.

@Barbiegirl: the piece on the wall is a swatch of sarong fabric my mom got in Thailand (?) on one of her trips. I just thumb tacked it up many years ago; every once in a while I remember to vacuum it off. The color scheme just kind of evolved from that over the years.

@LeslieAnn: many a novel has seen that chair!

The only issue I have with my furniture is that it fits only one way in that living room, and I am someone who likes to move stuff around every once in a while. I have racked my brains trying to figure out a way to reconfigure things just to change it up a bit.
