View Full Version : a permaculture i-book
For anyone interested, I came across this i-book written about permaculture. It is very wordy but still thought provoking. You can preview the first three chapters too:

Haha!
Went to a PDC class reunion last night in Brooklyn which was attended by all the PDC graduates taught by Andrew Faust. Worth a drive on a Friday night from NJ across the Verrazano!! Everyone had a chance to go around and talk about their permaculture projects, and it was SO impressive and gives me so much hope for future generations. I got to talk about my Exit 9 local food delivery service and everyone was generous with support and comments.
Also, I just signed up today for the Rutgers Master Gardener workshop and I'm signed up for classes on backyard pond making, drip irrigation, perennial bed design, canning fruits and vegetables, and how to make easy garden walkways. Can't wait!
I'm definitely going to peruse the ibook!

One thing I want to add for those of us in the NJ/NY/CT area. Last night Andrew was kind of lamenting about how bad a self-promoter he is--so let me do some promoting for him. If anyone in the tri-State area is interested in a permaculture class, I can't speak enough about Andrew. He teaches so much more than just the compost/rainwater/edible food paradigm of permaculture. In addition to permaculture design, he teaches geology, anthropology, metaphysics, history, politics, sociology, and more. He is incredibly passionate about not just going on our merry little permie way, but also getting involved politically to try to cast a light on the dysfunction from which there is no longer any escape on this planet. So that means learning about our bioregion, about the Superfund sites around us, and how pollution impacts our lives and our health, and how to get data right from the government to be able to be informed about the true dangers of our exploitation of nature and then how to use this information to turn the tide around in a creative, regenerative way.
It truly has been an amazing education for me. So if you are shopping for a class or classes on permaculture, Andrew is worth every penny.
Here's a YouTube interview of Andrew speaking to a reporter at International Permaculture Day
