For the next 3 days, I am going to only declutter for 30 minutes each day. No organizing, just getting the junk out. Anyone want to join?

I find doing this, I make some good progress without overwhelming myself. :+1:

Stage 2 Wednesday.

I'm in too...this is something that I really need to do and have wanted to do for a long time. I just needed a gentle "prod"!

Okay. If Wednesday is stage 2, then tomorrow I need to get a stage 1 thing done. Thirty minutes: I can do this.

I'm in. I will do something besides my primary decluttering goal.....

30 minutes is a long time. I think I'll start with a more reachable goal. At the end of an exhausting day, I might get 5 minutes of junk purging in.

Maybe it's time for me to go to sleep. When I saw "30 minute fling" I thought: "Having a fling for 30 minutes... Is this something like Husband/Wife Swapping?" ;)

Well, tomorrow I will determine to go through the house with a trash bag or box. It seems to be a constant fight.

I did 30 minutes in my office files (mainly as an excuse to put off doing 4th quarter taxes).

I seriously need to work on my laundry room for 30 minutes tonight.

Thirty minutes proved to be too long, so am doing a "10-minute fling" around the house. Today looked around my walk-in closet and got rid of 2 old and useless jewelry boxes, 1 old electric curlers, and 2 tote bags. (what is it about me and tote bags? I distinctly remember decluttering them several years ago, but you couldn't tell it from all that were up there. I think they're breeding when I'm not looking.)

yeah, my first thought seeing the title was '30 minutes is hardly worth getting undressed...' at least from what I remember.

Ya'll have me laughing!!! I did 30 random minutes in my front closet and the one upstairs. Found some stuff hubby hid away because it does not fit. Most of it is 5+ years older and considering I just replaced 3 of the fleece for him, donated they go. Also, repotted 2 plants and rid myself of the ugly containers they were in. Lovely!!!!

Well, the universe set up circumstances for me to make today's 10-minute fling. A coworker from my pre-retirement place of employment stopped by this morning with an emergency story. Seems our favorite young worker, we all adore him, came home yesterday evening and his b**** of a 2nd-wife had cleaned out the house of every stick of furniture, every pot pan and dish, even all the cleaning supplies, and taken off. I guess they've been having trouble but..... At 8:00 last night he was hitting up everyone he knew for blankets and sleeping bags to make pallets for the kids to sleep.

Anyway she knew I have been decluttering, and she said they were all rallying around trying to get him at least some minimal living supplies. So I spent my 10 minutes this morning decluttering for a good cause. Found him 2 sets of sheets, a cookpan, 3 soup bowls, and an assortment of glass and plastic drinkware.

A decluttering win win situation - but oh! I hate that this very nice hardworking young man has to go through this crap.

Blackdog..that was very kind of you. That is horrible. I wish that young man and his kids well.

I managed a 10 minute fling at the cupboard in my classroom today!

Blackdog--I'd love to know how someone actually pulls off that sort of act. You know, totally clearing the house. She must have had help.
Unless they didn't have much stuff.
Poor guy.

Oh, dear. The laundry room. Yes, it's creeping. I hope tomorrow I remember this pledge!!

What is it about tote bags, anyway? I have a plastic tub full of them. And what is it with organizations? They're always giving them away as promo items!

They're cheap to produce, and the assumption, I believe, is that they are actually useful. I have my favs in our car & in the hallway closet, which means I always have some when I go shopping. Thus, no need for paper or plastic! Good thing, too, as the city of Seattle has a law charging .05 for every new bag used.
