View Full Version : Your next missiion
Is to take 1 room and do a complete head to toe deep clean- to include removing as much as you can from the room and only putting back what you love. Empty out those drawers, crawl under that bed/chair/couch/etc., clean off those shelves, wash those curtains or wipe down those blinds- hit every inch. I am giving myself 3 days to do my bedroom. I would like to paint but I know this is not feasible right now. So I am going to prep with a good deep clean and clear out/organize and plan for a painting job in February/March. Y'all can take however long you need. The goal is to have 1 room done, finished and happy in just a few days. It can even be just closet, the garage, shed, extra bedroom-Whatever you leave out of that room either goes back to it's original spot, donate, recycled or trashed. Good luck!!!
I"m kind of doing that now with the bar/game/music rooms downstairs. I have a huge storage closet down there that we just threw suitcases and junk into. I pulled everything out, got two huge utility shelving units (I had to assemble them in the closet as they were too wide to fit through the door!) and started organizing. I love the 'empty' shelves look even though there are things on the shelves. Just organized and neat. We have maybe 15 pieces of luggage, but since we don't travel the world anymore with the whole family, I really need to pick just a few to keep and get rid of the rest. That will free up even more space!
Fun! I have been dying to do this with my bedroom but haven't had the time since I went back to work. This thread might be the kick in the pants I need to get busy, though! :-)
I'm slowly gaining energy now that the holiday season is behind me, and that always means getting started on things inside the home, like deep-cleaning, organizing, and weeding through closets to rid them of old, worn, items.
Love putting together donation bags, I can drop-off at the thrift store for those in need!. Will try (extra hard) to give myself the kick in the pants I need to get me moving.
You guys are off to a great start!
I just did this to my bathroom. I had crap in there from when my parents were here over a year ago. They use a lot of OTC medications, so they left them for us. We don't even know what they are or what we would use them for, so I pitched them. And I just went through everything and got rid of what we don't use. It wasn't much, but still. . .
I did leave the spiders. I alway leave the spiders because I like them. my MIL was completely freaked out that we had webs in the house, but I love the spiders, so I keep them. :) One is named Reg (Reginald), then we also have Sara and Sue. Those two fight a fair bit, and Reg stays out of it.
Otherwise, everything in there is stuff that we use. Keeps it simple.

Fabulous mission. I will accept it when I get this dang splint off my hand. Going to do the bedroom - I cleared out a lot in December and now it's phase 2 - and painting as well.
