View Full Version : One Guess As To Where I Am.....

That's right, Austin, Texas. I am spending nine days here to do some serious thinking about what comes next in my life and the trip I was going to take to Mexico City? Somehow it seems to have morphed into Austin, Texas, instead. I am doing the touristy stuff that I did not get to the four days I was here last November and am spending a portion of every day thinking the ins and out of various options over. Getting away is wonderful though not quite cheap - but I do my best thinking alone and away from all that I know. Always have, actually.
Will be working F/T again, briefly, once I return to Phoenix, readying the properties of the friend of my family who passed on last September for sale. I am thinking now about what I will do after that.....Will post once I make some decisions.
LOL and no I have not run into Austin Santa or seen anyone else getting arrested on the capital grounds. Rob
Austin is a fun place! Have a good time! And enjoy the B-B-Q
Have a good "think" Rob. Enjoy Austin.
We love Austin. We'll be there in about 6 weeks for SXSW. What a hoot! Check out the Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse if you get a chance. That neighborhood (Bouldin Creek) is where we hang out when we're down there. The next neighborhood over, to the east, is South Congress. Lots of bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and hipsters there. Easy walking/biking all around that part of town.
9 days in Austin sounds wonderful. That's a great amount of time to do some thinking. I'll be taking a personal retreat to a small cobblestone cottage on a ranch in AR again this year and I'm already wishing I could swing more than 3 days.

Sounds great. Most times when DH and I have had to do some mulling over of things and making decisions it was good to "get away" for awhile. Something about a different environment lets you see things more clearly or gives extra time for talking without interruptions. An extended stay really sounds great. Have fun and may you make good decisions on whatever you are thinking about.
Wishing you a happy, relaxing, end enjoyable time, Rob!

I believe I've mentioned how any impulse I ever had to be an international traveler (or any other kind) was derailed by a trip to Mexico City. I bet Austin--or any "weird" destination--is a lot more fun.
I was Austin the first part of January. One day on morning news I saw it was colder than Seattle weather I was trying to get away from. Good thing I had my gloves. Then there was the predicted 4" rain day. OMG. Not my best stop on this trip. I want to go back again when it is warmer. I enjoyed the Tex-Mex. Took a city tour since I'm traveling without a car and really enjoyed that. Toured the capitol before they were in session. Beautiful building. Walked South Congress but so cold it wasn't that enjoyable. Liked downtown.
Have fun.
The weather here in Austin has been perfection the past few days - 75/55. I am having a hard time just being inside.

OMG! You must be near Lockhart! I have family in Lockhart. Best B-B-Q around! Plus it's just a nice, quiet little Texas town. Prettiest town square in Texas.
