I received an email for a position that would put me working with an old company I left previous to this current job. It would be in a vendor position but I would be in contact with a few people I used to work for, namely my old boss and the other managers. I am far from intimidated by them but let's just say...they are "difficult" people to work with. I do like the company in general but this was the company I was laid off from. The vendor is totally on contract and they have other contracts with other hospital systems in the area. I just think it would be a weird situation, though I do have some established ground with many people there. I was great comrades with this particular vendors District Manager. She said I was the first manager to give her time to talk and actually work with them to solve problems and get things done, not just sit on issues or try to ignore them and never giving them the time of day. Don't know exactly how to feel or what to do in this situation? I can guarantee the job is 95% mine right now. I sorta look at it as good karma for always sticking to my guns and being nice to people who I came across.

Does "receiving an email" mean you've been extended an offer, invited personally to apply, or received it as a generic posting but think you have a good chance? If it's to apply, I say go for it and make the decision when you have an offer in hand. If it's for an offer, well, then it is time to decide.

I think Kelli's got this one. If it's anything other than an offer, I'd go ahead. If you end up speaking with some of the people you used to work with, it's an opportunity to gauge if/how things have changed and, if so, if that's something you can work with as a vendor. If it's an offer, I think you need to evaluate how quickly that scenery may change -- either the organizations you are responsible for within the new organization or the "difficult" people at the customer site. This may not be any kind of long-term concern.
