View Full Version : decluttering leads to organizing what's left
Thanks to inspiration of others' decluttering here, plus the suggestion I read here of turning hangers around and then see which clothes I wore, I took out a bunch of clothes to the women's shelter. That allowed me to hang my coat & jackets in the closet (which is tiny) for the first time--instead of messily taking up space on the bedroom bench.
Very good larknm!
I just bought a few new pieces that I really need to think about hard....I bought them on impulse the other day because I wanted something new to wear to our Awards yesterday at the state capitol. And then I ended up wearing something I already had. These new things should just go back to the store. I'm going to be studying my closet one more time tonight before I make the final decision.
One happy day was when I decluttered my kitchen to the point where every single item in it has a specific place. Cleaning it became so much easier. And I know where everything is.
That's great, Larknm!
I find the time between Christmas (just after) and Spring, is usually my time to weed-through closets, old boxes, and general stuff, in an attempt to purge and pare old, unused things from the house. The lead-up to, and tearing apart of storage areas is the hardest, but once I see my progress and am able to reorganize afterwards, that's the best feeling of all!
Then, being able to drop-off all purged items/things to shelters/thrift stores, etc, is the sunshine of my life. I never fail to say to myself whenever I drop things off, "I hope someone appreciates this or that and can use it", then I play out in my mind a poor or less fortunate person coming in to shop at the store and finding my drop-off. I always see a warm smile, and someone so happy to get something new. Something better than they had. Something to inspire them, something to help them carry on...
That is awesome!!! WOOT WOOT!!!
