View Full Version : 40 things
I tossed 40 things in honor of Lent. I am not Catholic but I like the awareness of doing something. I donated what I had to the local church sale. It felt great and my house is VERY clean now. :)
Ooooh, BRILLIANT idea! I'm in! I'll let you know when it's done.
Just nosey, MamaM, what kind of things did you toss?
A few more articles of clothing, 2 pairs of shoes, 1 large picture, 2 small frames, several kitchen items...etc...I really just went drawer to closet to box and pull things out. :)
I was at my farm most of the weekend, but am glad to say that almost 80 things have been pitched or re-homed! I got rid of a lot of paper (magazines, catalogs, books...do these things re-create when I'm not looking???), 2 sweaters and 2 pairs of pants that have outgrown me, a pair of sandals that I've HATED since I got them home but was keeping because I paid good money for them darn it...etc.
I got stuck at about the 30-32 count...when I hit 40 I was in the middle of a big pile so I pushed for another 40. I almost made it.
I'm considering doing this every day for a while...I have been pitching stuff it seems nonstop for the last 2 years, but apparently, I can continue! Thanks MamaM for the idea! I will post again...it's good for me to have accountability on this.
Well here's to 40 more. I will join you and see what I can find. :)

ha, Ruffian, me too! I donated a big bag of magazines to our ladies' lounge area at work where I know it will be welcomed. But I have to stay on top of this stuff or else it's not a pretty sight.
This is inspiring! I brought a car-load of items to the local SPCA thrift store today and another load to the local Humane Society (things that were on their wish list). Feels great!
Y'all are doing great. I have come up with 7 items so far. The pickings are getting slim but I am determined. :)
MamaM, I really like using something that's extraneous to your life otherwise, like Lent, to motivate yourself. It makes me think motivations must be all around us if we just recognize them as something we can use.
