What is it with (1-800) Customer Service numbers, the creepy phone tree recordings and no option to cancel despite that is the number you are required to call to cancel an order/service?
Please tell me there is some consumer protection agency that handles this?
In my efforts to declutter I found almost $90 in gift cards to Victoria's Secret. Not my fav place but it's $90.
Anyway, I placed my order and it didn't look like it went through so I waited for a bit to see if an email confirmation would come through.
Didn't see one so I placed it again. Of course then they both went through. Sigh.
Couldn't find any way to simply email VS to have them cancel the second order so I had to call the required phone number and with no option to cancel an order in the recorded list or even general customer service so it became a fight with technology to finally at least get some hold music. =( UGH!
Had this problem with a cable service I wanted to cancel, too. Got through to 3 different operators who all dumped me back into the same crappy phone recording system that had no cancellation option and I gave up after my minutes ran out in 20 minutes. I did what I was supposed to do and am loathe to ever sign up for any kind of service knowing that canceling will be such a pain that I don't. Sure helps keep things simple :)
How does everyone else deal with these? Is there any agency in which to file a complaint?
Yeah, Stupid question, I know. You can stop laughing now :)
