I confess! I'm totally addicted to pinterest! Most of the stuff I find and re-pin are in the gardening, recipes or DIY categories.

I was just thinking that I'd be interested in following some of the like-minded people here on the forum.

Hopefully, this is allowed. Those of you who use Pinterest, I'd love to see your boards - post your pinterest profile here and let's all get pinning! I'll start.

I don't use it much at all (I'm on Facebook much more) but I like the visual aspects of Pinterest. I may start using it again. http://pinterest.com/jackieskoch/

I used to come to the Simple Living Network forums many years ago, with the username sistersue57. Kind of good to be back.

I've been thinking of creating a Pinterest profile for the longest time now, but just haven't got around to it.

Can you tell me more about it? Is it just about posting pictures and then commenting on?

I spend too much time on-line as it is. If I got into Pinterest, I'd have to give up sleep or something else...

Thanks Mrs-M! I've recently remembered some very important things about myself, which drew me here. :)

(I'm so used to being on Facebook that I wanted to "like" your post. Ha.)

Hey there sistersue Simplicity! Welcome back.

I also love pinning - here's are my Boards (http://pinterest.com/gardenarian/).

Mrs. M - Pinterest can be used a lot of ways. Whenever you see a picture you like, you can quickly pin it (it's easy to add a Pin It button to your browser.) You can create Idea/Vision boards (for example, if you're wanting to buiild a tiny home, you could have a board all about that.) I also use it as a way to quickly bookmark interesting pages. The pictures retain a link to the site where you got the picture; just double click on it and it will take you there. You can also upload your own photos/artwork/pdf images.

I see a lot people using it for garden ideas, wedding planning, redecorating, travel photos, wish lists, knitting patterns, re-use ideas - lots of simple living inspiration there! It's searchable - try "clothelines" and see what you get!

I don't use any of the social features, where you share with friends and stuff, just for my own interests. It's a fun way to spend time when it's really slow at work - I can see that it could develop into a huge time suck if you did it at home a lot.

Oh Mrs-M I think you'd love it once you got the hang of it. It's not really posting pictures, it's more like posting links to sites with pictures as the "pin." So, for example, I have a gardening board, and in there, you will see interesting looking pictures with descriptions. if you click on the picture, it opens bigger, then you click it again and it will take you to that website.

It's kind of hard to explain. Have a peek around it, I think you'd like it.

I just followed you all as well. (Melanie - that's me) Thanks! Can't wait to look through all the new pins! :)

I am also one that is not interested in the social aspects of the site (I even joined under a pseudonym, so that my real name wouldn't be on there), but oh my I am an addict. I've pinned SO many great ideas from there: homemaking, gardening, recipes.....it's awesome.

Since you posted this on our Gardening and Farming forum, I posted the link to my "garden and yard" page.

So much fun! Love everyone's Pinterest sites!

P.S. I could definitely see myself sinking into Pinterest, forever land/point of no return! So much to see!

Gardenarian and Simplicity, thank you for walking me through the logistics of.

LOL, Jilly!

LOL at that. A few relatives told me I would like it and shown it to me. I said it was the same thing as bookmarking (which is what I use). There have been write ups around uploading/organizing your bookmarks, to a web page, so they are accessible away from home.
Didn't know their were "social aspects", as I don't use "social media" (facebook, twitter, etc), but instead boards (like this one).

I occasionally browse around Pinterest, but I recently found this website: http://pinstrosity.blogspot.com/. Basically people submit pictures of projects they tried to copy from Pinterest that went very, very wrong. Sometimes they admit they deviated from the instructions, and sometimes they are trying to work from projects that are just pictures. I really admire people who are willing to admit disasters. Sometimes I look at the blogs with perfect food, crafts, fashions etc. and get discouraged when my projects don't work out. It's nice to be reminded I am not the only person in the world who has things go awry.

I'm very visual so pinterest is like crack. Since retiring I have been returning to the art I loved back when I was younger. I collect tutorials and images of things I would like to paint. I am big on gardening so I have a lot collected on that. There is also a lot of food porn ;0)

Blackdog Lin

Food porn. Yeah. Garden porn too.

I know that sometimes I spend too much time on it, but sometimes it's.....theraeputic. (I spelled that wrong, didn't I?) I have a humor page, and there are mornings when I just don't want to get going, and I could make myself depressed about life in general.....but if I'll just go to my Pinterest Humor page, and revisit all the funny pins I've pinned - I find I'm giggling and laughing (LOL even!) and maybe even dancing in the kitchen before DH gets up, and within 15 minutes life is all kinds of better. It definitely offsets the timesink.

I'm with you blackdog. I guess you could say mine is something of a vision board. I have humor, I have inspiration, I have pictures that captured the emotions I was feeling after my mom passed. I have pictures of things I plan to do in my next phase of life and pictures of where I have been. I also have pictures of rabbits............ don't ask why.
I love to jump into the profiles. It is like getting a glimpse of another person's brain. I will go deep into a catagory and totally lose track of time. I find it fascinating.
