Can I ask if this has been an issue for anyone? Seriously this week it is bad and painful and embarrassing. You can only take so much gas-x before I am sure it does something to you that is bad. Out of respect for everyone I am around all day I am taking it quite a bit. Is this part of changing cuz I would like a nice good private night sweat instead!

Cutting back very hard on carbohydrates helped me a lot. As we get older, our ability to process some foods decreases, and carbs that get into the colon ferment vigorously - it's the sugar raffinose in beans that creates the musical effect! Also, insulin and estrogen perform a very intricate dance, so falling or wildly erratic estrogen levels affect insulin metabolism.

I had these issues going on at the same time. Cutting out dairy worked for me, though I had never been lactose intolerant in the past, and now that I'm done with menopause I'm able to eat many dairy products (not milk, but organic yogurt and aged cheese.)
I hate that bloated feeling!

I think I've also got a touch of lactose intolerance, that I never noticed in earlier years. I never drink dairy milk, but if I eat ice cream I feel really bloated. Yogurt seems to be ok. As for beans, I definitely don't digest them as well as I used to. I have been cooking them in the pressure cooker and that helps a LOT.

I am peri-menopause and the older I get the more gas I have along with burping and hiccups. The hard part is because of my age I cannot hold any of it in anymore. I am so glad that I am a homemaker so I don't have to worry about it. DH and I sleep in separate rooms due to his sleep apenea, but with my issues, I couldn't sleep in the same room with him...

I am hoping as one poster mentioned that once I go through menopause it will all subside.

Very sorry you are going through this, I understand how hard it must be for you...christine
