Reading a couple of the other threads where people were describing planting "as soon as the soil can be worked" made me wonder. When is this? In CO, the soil can be worked sometimes at any point in the winter, because we get periods of warm(ish) days interspersed with snow. So when is the soil worked time in relation to average last frost date in areas where the ground really is frozen for a few months?
