That all happened 4 or 5 months ago. There's a thread about it around here somewhere.

If you're a fan of some of their products, the good news is that the individual Twinkies and Ho Ho's and Wonder Bread lines will likely live on after being bought by various Hostess competitors. http://www.brandchannel.com/home/post/2013/03/19/Hostess-Brands-Twinkies-Sold-031913.aspx

Yep there was a big run at the stores for the few remaining hostess products on the shelves. I went looking for my beloved Ho-Hos the day after the closing annoucement and everything was gone. Heard that Twinkies et al are going for exhoribitent prices on E-Bay.

When I was in kindergarten, I always liked the ding dongs. Just delicious! But, now that I know what's in them, I don't buy that kind of stuff anymore.

Well, at least you know if you stock up, they won't decay. :~)

But a rather somber question: does anyone have a will for their twinkie, hohos, and ding dong collection? They will probably survive all of us and in the chance we are unable to eat them, I think we would want them to go to a loving owners who will appreciate them.

I really did like those devil's food sandwich thingies with the hydrogenated fluff in the middle, cold out of the vending machine at work. I'm pretty sure I could make a passable facsimile with a black bean brownie recipe and cream cheese frosting. Hmmm. Gears turning.

Like ther cockroachs and rats, I will survive the apocylpse with all the preservatives in my body! And then of course, I don't have to share either. My Ho-Ho's! Mine!!

Try explaining to your brother over in Afghanistan why he isn't getting Twinkies any more. Apparently, while other snack cakes are acceptable (think Little Debbie and TastyCakes), a soldier needs his Twinkies. Even more than my homemade cookies. (That hurt, a little bit.)

If I recall correctly, there was a recipe for homemade glue made out of Wonder Bread going around years ago when my kids were little. lol
