View Full Version : Taking care of me
I got my hair cut and styled yesterday. I am back on track with my food plan and made an appointment with my dietitian. I also made two long overdue appointments for tests and a visit to my neurologist.
With all of the complexity of issues due to my Mom's stroke and my sister's and my accidents, I had let taking care of myself slip by the wayside. I've decided that I am doing myself and everyone else no good if I crash and burn.
I'm not sure if the new haircut qualifies as health care, but it sure improved my mental outlook. :)

You go girl. Best wishes in your travails.....
Good for you! I, too, had a long period of "letting myself go," and getting myself get back in gear took some time, effort, and money, but it was very much worth it!

The haircut counts! I did the same thing in February, and started to re-focus on health.
At the time, did you look in the mirror and said "Huh, is that really my hair?"
Self esteem is critical when coping with stress from life's challenges so haircuts do count.
Take care of yourself.

Glad for you! Think you are doing the right thing. Don't let yourself go!!! You matter just as much as everyone else!!!
Yay!! Feels so good to get back on track doesn't it :)
Haircuts are definitely tied to mental health ;)
I know what you're saying about the multiple appointments though. I used to wish that I could go to one giant building and do it all in a single day: dental, medical check-up, eye care, and then for the fun stuff, a haircut, massage, margarita, facial, pedicure and then out the door! What a mood booster to have all that -
We'd all be more motivated to do the clinic stuff if we could have the spa-like stuff right afterwards!

Yea they should take care of your car as well, which perhaps has also been getting neglected (ahem mine has :))

oh yeah, I forgot, the car would be vacuumed and washed and waxed and waiting for you when you're done!!
I knew it was time for the haircut when DH suggested it, and he rarely notices anything. As for the appointments, well it was really stupid to put them off. I feel like I can face anything now.
Sign me up whenever that Big Tune Up place opens..for both the care and me. What a great time saver!:D
