Project 333: 33 items of clothing for 3 months

This is a good opportunity to divide up your wardrobe into clothing capsules for this and future challenges. If you like you could organize one for each season.

Next round starts April 1

How to do the challenge of 33 clothing items for 3 months.

Has pictures of other people’s collections and strategy suggestions.
Look for one suitcase, 14 pieces, 30 outfits for a sample how to.

Some people here have done the challenge before. Any tips from your experience with the challenge? What clothes would you choose differently from last time?

I like looking at other peoples combinations. I have less than 33 items myself, but I tend to wear them in the same combinations. Amaranth- do you do the 333 project?

MAybe I will get real adventurous this weekend and put up photos of my clothes and current count.

I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe...but I find I start getting bored after a while. Perhaps it's because I have always used my clothing as a means of self-expression?

I went through my closet this past weekend --inspired by this thread--- and ended up donating 4 trash bags of clothing. I really tried doing the 333 project, but in our climate this time of year, you plan to wear layers, and that would mean needing more than the 33 items unless you want to repeat occasionally during the week. I also need more than one or two pairs of shoes depending on weather and what I'm doing...so I feel shot in the foot already trying for the 33.

I'm with Kay and Frugalone on this - not enough variety for me indefinitely. But I can borrow the idea for my weekday work wardrobe. I pretty much have done this - am usually in one of two pairs of work pants, and then I have about five work-appropriate tops to choose from. Can mix it up with skirts if I feel like it. I look different enough each day not to feel like a garbage pail kid, and the whole getting ready for work thing is much simplified. But I would need more variety on the weekend - I like to be able to wear stuff then that wouldn't fly at work - so I have a kind of schizo wardrobe. By the time I've added my clubwear-type stuff, my symphony-appropriate dresses, and then my yoga pants and track jackets and running shoes (that I only use for walking, actually but they are SO comfy), I'm way disqualified for the 33 challenge...
