Truly free-range eggs in NJ

I saw on Facebook that free range chickens live in hideous conditions. Does anyone know of a homesteader who keeps their chickens clean and healthy and they actually live free range. I am in NW NJ.

I found ours by going to our local farmer's market. He invited us out to see the farm. Best way if it is important to you. Same way to buy meat.
