View Full Version : Energy Usage Comparison
Each week we get an email from our electricity provider summarizing our usage for the week and showing how much it cost for the week. There is a graph showing peak energy usage times. But I just noticed that there is a neighborhood energy use comparison. Evidently, we use 32% less energy than the average in our neighborhood. :D
Do you get a weekly notice like this?
We don't get anything weekly, but our provider (Xcel Energy) does chart monthly electric/gas usage per account and compares it to other accounts in the area. It's been a while since I looked at it; I know we were running notably below average even when it wasn't just me living here.
Not weekly, but we get little notifications like that on our utility bill. Apparently our household uses much less electricity and water than the average household "in our area," whatever that means (street? city? county?). It also shows us graphs of our usage for the past year, and average cost per day. I get all geeky about stuff like that. :~)
I like that stuff, too. My company says that I use 78% less energy than similar households in my area, but I think the woman who lives in the upper flat is as frugal as I am, so I am not the only one paying smaller bills.

No, I don't think they give that to most apartments. However, I've gone to the back of the apartment and checked meter usage for the building (all the units). I was the 2nd lowest the last time I checked :)
My electricity bill shows current time of use totals per month, monthly use graph compared to previous year but nothing else.
