View Full Version : Cancer update
I had my first post surgery exam today, and am doing well. Then we reviewed the pathology report, and it was not what I had hoped for. My endometrial tumor was upgraded to a 3, which is about its size. It was staged at 1a, which is fairly good. Staging is how the tumor has grown into various body parts. The tumor was 1mm into the myometrium, the layer of tissue next to the endometrium.
No nodal involvement, some vascular involvement, thought to be the tumor vascular system. That scares me, as metastases occur via both the vascular & lymphatic systems. The consequences of the tiny penetration into the myometrium is that I need localized radiation treatment, called brachytherapy. Ugh. If you want to know more, I'd be happy to explain it. I spent most of the day in meltdown.
I am trying to regain my equilibrium, and know that my reality is what it is, and my awfulizing makes things worse. Nonetheless, dammit all. I really do not want to be dealing with this serious illness.
So sorry this is turning out this way. Looks like you'll be in for a longer haul vs. a short fix. Feel free to vent in here and we'll drink a virtual cuppa together while we're at it ...

Sorry you are going through this
This is so scary, sorry to hear!
I believe that particular diagnosis averages out to an excellent survival/cure rate, and really effective treatments (tailored to the individual) are starting to emerge from the pipeline with many more available down the road, so I wasn't being a Pollyanna when I talked about wellness.
I am so sorry to hear the enws. It makes me sad even.
Redfox, I am so sorry. We are all rooting for you. Super Duper Cyber Hug.
Hang in there...you have so much life yet to live...you really do.
