View Full Version : Day Goes Awry

Well, this day has not gone as planned at all and that's not such a bad thing. I had scheduled too many things to begin with and was dreading being on the road going and doing all day. So when things didn't pan out, it was a relief. Such a relief that I went back to bed and took a sound sleep nap.

The first change of the day was a call from my hair salon informing me that my hairdresser, Diane, was ill and wouldn't be in today. Fine, I will reschedule. I look like a shaggy dog but that is one thing I don't have to do today.

Next I got an email stating that the voter registration training that was scheduled for tonight in the previous email will actually be next Tuesday, sorry for the inconvenience. No problem, I would just as soon not go anywhere from 6-7 tonight because we are having a cold front moving through and it is raining, windy, and cold and who on earth has ever heard of a cold front moving through the Texas Gulf Coast in May??

Last, I was supposed to make Cod Chowder for dinner and I called myself and cancelled that too, just because I want to cook even less than usual.

So right now I have a cat and a quilt on my lap, the radio is on and Talk of the Nation is talking, I have a good book on the Kindle (The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult) and I have a banana to eat. It's a good day after all.

this post made me smile. Thanks for a great image. I had a super busy day at work and you've knocked down my bp by a few points!

"I called myself and cancelled that too"

I think this is good advice for all of us.

Funny but nice to read your response to the changes.

My day went awry, too, but it turned out ok - thankfully. DD fainted at school this morning and hit her head, so we spent the day at the ER. I am grateful for our health, our health insurance, a caring school staff, medical staff with a great manner for children, and my DH who thought to grab a favorite stuffed animal and a book for DD on his way out the door after I called.

I over-schedule as well, and I am going to make time to make that call, too!

My day went awry in the wrong direction.

Our footpath sign license had some kind of issue that can't be resolved until 1 July, and from there, there are no guarantees that we'll get the license again. This only means that I need to work with the building body corporate to get a sign up on our building wall, and then if i get the license, then we just have double the marketing.

Then, we got a parking ticket. What's weird about it is that we shouldn't. The parking ticket said our meter ticket ran from 1:22 to 3:22 and the parking ticket is marked at 3:28. Except that we had three meter tickets for 3 different parking spaces (how it works here) and they are timed stamped as follows: 10:49 to 12:49; 12:54 to 2:54; and 3:08 to 4:27. This means that I have to write a letter explaining this discrepancy with photocopies of the parking ticket and the three meter tickets that we have from the day, which clearly shows coverage between 1:22 and 3:22, as well as when the ticket was issued at 3:28.

It's a bit of a nuisance, but I'm not taking any sauce from the city council today.
