View Full Version : Mini electric or cordless lawn mower?
I've searched online and I know there are some of these out there, but was wondering if any of you have had actual experience with any of these mini mowers?
I want it for getting into smaller spaces in my back yard.....like between the water gardens, flowers, and other small spaces.
Any ideas? I prefer something like this to a weed eater.
Thanks.

Lot's of idea's, Eliminate the grass (hardscape, other natural/local plants, etc), find a reel mower at a garage sale (I picked up a decent one for $10, because it needed sharpening), use lawn sheers on a real small area.
I walked by a man using a reel mower the other day. How refreshing. No fumes, no noise.
We have and use both a reel mower and an electric mower. Our yard is about 1/3 acre and there are times of the year when it simply grows faster than we can mow it with the reel mower, which doesn't work that well if the grass is too long. We began with a used (well-used and quite old) electric mower that we got from Craigslist. When that died we bought a new Craftsman mulching electric mower. It is corded... we did not think the advantages of the cordless ones were worth the hassle and expense of battery replacement.
How small is the smallest space you are trying to access? Mowers won't get the grass that's growing right next to a raised feature, such as a garden raised bed.
We've tried a reel mower, but it doesn't work well. Also, the places I want to get into are too small for that. I would like to get into places that are something like 1 foot wide. I have pretty bad hand arthritis, so I'm limited as to what I can use.
We use an electric regular mower in the back yard, but its just too big for some spaces.

Never seen a mower that will fit in a one foot or less space. The smallest Reel mower I have seen is 16" wide. Since arthritis (getting up and down) is an issue, I would be looking at an electric weedwacker and try to make a wheeled stand that will help you support it, and get an even height cut. It will make getting more string out, a pain, but if all your cutting is grass, I wouldn't think that would be too often (or make the stand a lift out).
