SO I had the extra day off and it was fun. As fun as it can be without a car or a lot of cash but still nice. And then I barely slept because I know there is so much today to work on! I keep on thinkng it will be less stressful if I work on these things over the weekend however much of it I cannot work on over the weekend. I even went to check the status of my tax return for my bankruptcy and the system was down until today. I did get every last peice of paper in my room filled or tossed or in the 'must do this week' pile. Now it is work day again and I am way over stressed. I have to do these things during my work day, the businesses are open now, the systems no longer being maintenanced, but I am also trying mightily to focus on the work I need to do so I don't have all the attention I want for these. I tend to feel guilty no matter what about taking work time to manage some of these things. Plus takign care of things during the day means taking along all the materials I need to work with me.

It seems this is just the way that it is, however work doesn't seem to see it that way. There isn't really an organizational trick to making this easier I guess, at least not right now.

Sounds like you need a break in a bad way! Can you take a day and just throw your to-do list out the window - give some time to yourself?
Sometimes I need to take a step back and see that all this must-do business is the stuff of life.

Yeesssss!

I tried to take my son hiking on the weekend but the car was in bad shape. It needed spark plug wires and the shop needed to get them delivered this morning. So I hung out at home a lot over the weekend which was ok.

I think I need to really push it this week, get these things done by taking time off work, and then take some personal time. it is as the point where time off does not relax me because the list is pretty urgent around the BK and possibly having done my taxes wrong and then contacting the kids' dad about increased health insurance cost. So nothing at all on the schedule this Saturday plus the car is fixed. Now to delegate as much as I can to staff and pay some extra hours if needed,

Zoe, I thought you had some kind of a split schedule this year?

Remember that everyone in education has to do this. There is no way around it. When the unwritten expectation is that you are ON all the time, all day long, it is ok to take five minutes to make that personal phone call that can't be made at any other time. Obviously not when you are with kids, but you know what I mean! Sometimes I even go out and sit in the car so that it is clear to me.

Hang in there . . .
