it's cute. I'm sad that I couldn't see the bedroom and bathroom. Looks like her loft is a reading loft or perhaps her "living room" but I assume she put that up front (like, I imagine it's by the door and big window, with kitchen and dining across in one big LDK, and then bed/bath in the back, with the loft.
It's very sweet.
Though I have to say that i've seen more efficient 600 sq ft places that are 2 bed with loft -- maybe thsi place is too. I don't know. I couldn't tell! :D FRUSTRATION! LOL
I think there is a bed in that loft. If so, then the square footage is HUGE in comparison to what we see. I don't get it!
Nicely done!
I would love to see that approach devoted to more accessible living spaces. The narrow kitchen (and, presumably, bathroom) and loft-bed-up-a-ladder don't work well for ageing in place. I wonder how many more square feet it would take to accommodate one-level living and wheelchair/walker clearance?

Surely that loft isn't the only bedroom.
One of my tiny houses is about 650 sq feet and from that I know there is no need to put the single bedroom in a loft, 600 sq feet is plenty of room for a small bedroom with a separate wall. Perhaps the loft is for other purposes.
I think zoebird is right, there is a bedroom (that is not shown in these photos) in the front of the house where we see a wall of 3 windows.
There is a poster hanging on the wall that features her house, so I'm sure it's been on a house tour in the area.
Our Japanese apartment has a loft like hers with the ladder setup. We do use the loft as our bedroom and it works for us, there is only room for the bed and a few linen supplies and has a ceiling height of only 4 feet or so. It opens up a LOT of floor space for us.
While our apartment, just under 800 sq ft, is divided to have two bedrooms and all those walls make it feel so much smaller. A more open plan would be much nicer.

I love how she has it done, just the perfect look for a little cottage. I think there has to be a bedroom...I have a 650 sq ft rental and it has two bedrooms just barely big enough for queen beds, so I think there is some space hiding in there.
Like the color scheme, too, thanks for posting.
One thing I'd be nervous about is the loft area doesn't seem to have any railing. I like the open look as much as the next person, but after I read about a woman whose husband took a tumble from their loft area right onto the 1st floor and sustained a brain injury, it seems safety should be a first consideration.
I'm with Lainey on the railing.
I want a 1920s brick bungalow of the type you see much of in Chicago, and even up into Milwaukee and its burbs.

Lainey you have a really good point about the railing. I wonder if there is a comment section...I will check.

Here is a blog about it, but I find nowhere to leave a comment about the rails which I think is really important. Maybe someone else can find it?

"I began doing research online and found Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, which has plans for houses that are all less than 900 square feet. I chose the Whidbey plan, which has two bedrooms and a loft area, to give me room for growth if I were to have a family in the future."

Oddly, this website is blank for me in Safari, but I can see it in Firefox..lol
there's a 480 sq ft houseplan that i posted some time ago that I think could be accessible because the kitchen/dining/living were all one room -- so quite open, with an L-shaped kitchen, and then two beds and a bath between behind that main room. Both rooms would fit two twins or -- ostensibly -- one king (since that's the same measurements), and they had closets. the bathroom was sink, shower, toilet, laundry.
very functional little design. :)
