Another interdisciplinary post: Is this health? Food? Frugality? Anyway, it's a great lesson that "healthy eating" does NOT have to mean "Expensive."

Check out this Yahoo article on Papa Joe Aviance (http://health.yahoo.net/experts/yourbestfitness/99-cent-diet-could-it-work-you)

Well, he bought his groceries at the 99-cent store, but he spent about $50/wk. according to the article.

That's cool. We don't have a 99 cent store here. But what i see -- which is exciting -- is that there is inexpensive food available that is healthy foods.

Pretty much if you cut the toast, he's eating a "primal" diet (paleo plus dairy), and it's simple and healthy.

And walking works. I love to go walking. :)

A really great article. I wonder if dollar stores vary in the food they sell and how the quality of it is...

There is no dollar store here like the one our dieter used. But I was surprised on my last trip inside a Dollar Tree here that they had both refrigerated and frozen cases, which held some food that was not entirely highly-processed or loaded with fat/sugar/sodium. No fresh produce that I could see, though.
