My roma beans were doing great. Even though they are bush beans, some of them were growing up the side of my garden fence.............a fence that is totally protected from bunnies and pretty much deer. The beans were fine this afternoon. Tonight I went out and all the climbing ones were dead. I realized that they were bit off around the ground level.
I'm thinking mice. They didn't eat anything.......they just bit off the stems holding the plants. I think maybe they were after water??
Bummer. I'm glad I've planted more in succession. Now I have to outsmart those meeses.

Do you have cats?

No, but there's always stray cats around. But last year, we built a really good fence. It has 4x4 cedar posts at all the corners, so I hope that's enough for a cat to climb to get into the garden.
I've had mice eat the seeds before they sprouted before, but never had them cut stems. Maybe it was something else....like birds or squirrels?
Nothing new chewed today, fortunately.
