Today I told Bulldog Rescue that Theodore A. Bear (aka Teddy Bear) is going nowhere. He is no longer our "foster" dog, we are adopting him, he will be staying here. He and I, we've got a big love thing going. He needs expensive meds which would make him hard to place. He gets along perfectly with our tiny bossy French Bulldogs. So--it's a good match for all. He is the sweetest, silliest, most affectionate guy ever!

This photo makes him look like a sad sack, but in real life he is funny and sweet and he completely loves his mom! He's got some bad skin issues that are now stable due to medication.

How old do you guess him to be?

How old do you guess him to be? We have his AKC registration papers and we know him to be 4 years old.

He is not neutered and I am debating whether or not to do that, given his health. He does not act like a full male. We have a neutered unspayed female Frenchie in the house and when she came into heat recently, he was not interested in her. He was completely interested in me, his mom and in sitting on mom's lap and in kissing mom and he did not care about that sexy Frenchie girl!

But I suppose that could change as they get to know each other better. Also, testicular cancer is a worry, especially since he is on a medicine that is believed to cause cancer.

Teddybear is adorable. I just adore any of the bully breeds. I add my blessings to you for making him yours, as I pretty much always fostered and eventually adopted the most needy of the needy. CoolCat does not have a tail, and has some of the problems associated with that. Still and all, he made a fine therapy cat for many years, until he retired because of stomach and intestine problems.

This is probably too much information, but neuter is the correct term for both male and female alter surgeries. Neuter is from Latin and means the removal of an animal's reproductive organs. Spay is for females, and castration is the proper term for male surgery, but that term makes lots of people queasy. So, the less queasy neuter is the default and more common term for male surgery.

Oh, how adorable - a "puddle of dog" indeed! And it is always a happy moment when a rescue animal finds his or her forever home. We feel so happy when our favorite cats at the shelter are adopted!

Looks like he was a lucky dog!

see that is why I can't foster. My one dog Lucy is a four year old retriever mix we took home for the weekend trial, four years ago. Polly my beagle mix had a one month trial from a shelter, we've had her a year and half. Hubby tells them when they start getting wild with Cub our rott mix, It's time to go back the trial period is over ;)

haha, "foster failures" we call that in our rescue group.

But that is the unfortunate part of Teddy staying with us, we can no longer be a foster home. We are full up with 4 dogs.

It's harder to find foster homes than adoptive homes and for that reason I feel guilty for abandoning rescue. I am on the Board for local bulldog rescue, but that is a passive role, my main contribution was to provide foster care (and attendant veterinary care) for foster dogs. We had 6 dogs each year on average stay with us as foster dogs since 2009. Over the years there were a couple that were almost "my" dogs but I let them go. One of them didn't live long and I wish I would have kept him, he was such a doll. Another one went to a friend and she would come to visit us.

Well, I am not a bit surprised that YOU cannot distinguish the fine features of this dog, haha! Bulldog haters gonna hate. Either ya love 'em or you think they are fugly, there is little in between.

Well, I think he's kinda fugly... but cute too. Can that be a form of elegance?

Lucky boy, lucky (and loving) mom...and the picture is precious. I didn't think I was a bulldog person but this one does look squishy and delightful. Keep your PT Cruiser though.

Congrats. And also I get the regret about fostering. I have to laugh at the concept of "foster failures."
