I really want to move! I rent a cute small older home in the city. I moved here 3 years ago so my son could attend the arts school down the street. After 2 years he left there. He then did one year at a huge city high school before anxiety issues, and we are looking at online school right now. Then my oldest moved, ok not all her stuff is gone but she is not here. That also frees me up to move as well.

So I realized that I do not have to live in this house anymore! I have liked it, but have been so frustrated. Simply we are used to the suburbs. More house for lower price, newer homes, safer neighborhood. My kids may not like another move but as my friend said I have done all of this for them so I might as well find us a good place to live that I like also. To be honest the kids have not been all that happy with this house but my son has some friends in the area now.

I saw many places on Craigslist that are the same price or within $100. Just looking at the kitchen photos made me so happy! The kitchen is cute here but nothing works really well. The landlord hires the cheapest labor that takes forever to show up and do the job. The bathtub was fixed when I moved in but the water comes out so slow that I cannot take a bath, probably 30 minutes to fill. The stove has one burner that never works. These are minor so I mention them to the landlord but it is hard enough to get the big stuff done. Older houses can be great but they need to be taken care of.

Of course there is the issue of the foreclosure and resulting bankruptcy. I am on a month to month lease for as long as I like which is perfect since it may take some time to find a landlord who will accept a letter of explanation to rent to me. An improved job will also help (always applying). But yeah, It feels good to think about this.

I hope you can find something that is a better fit for you and your current situation. It makes such a difference to like the place you live. Our lovely pad in the sky is one of the things that makes life in hot, humid, crowded polluted Beijing bearable. I come home on Friday afternoon and DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE all weekend. I do go out to do shopping, etc., but I am just SOOOOOO happy when I can stay home and relax.

Good luck with your housing search!
