Some of you may remember, in my saga about work, that there was a corporate officer who dealt with some customs stuff who was constantly trying to undermine me (and still was, as of very recently). Well...

This person has resigned! Gone from the company

Yes! Yes! Yes! Hee hee!

It was a rough week at work, but this news (someone in another office mentioned it, and didn't know I didn't know) had me dancing around my living room a few minutes ago.

Hot dang! I cannot tell you just how THRILLED I am.

So very glad for you. That is a hard position to be in --when someone is undermining you. Glad that is over now!!!

And no, I don't want this person's job. Too much bs. I like what I'm doing now.

How nice! I'll bet you aren't the only one in the office glad to be rid of that person!!

Florence, I'm not the only person to be sure!

Nice, Tradd! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

I do wish there were a way for employees to initiate a "recall vote" for certain people. A coworker of DW's has been on vacation for the past three weeks and the mood at DW's office is so much lighter and so much more work is getting done without this organizational white blood cell in the way. I am hopeful that at least some of the people who are enjoying her absence mention this to management, which seems to need a clue-by-four to recognize the problem.

Love the term "clue by four"...never heard it before...might just store it away and use it sometime in the future!:)

Glad to hear that one issue is resolved. What is the replacement plan or have you heard?

No idea on that. Heck, they didn't even make an announcement, just an email to the managers who dealt with this woman.

Sometimes you have to let them hang themselves Tradd. Woo hoo. Waiting can be the hardest part....

Glad to hear your good news, Tradd! I can relate in a way as in every restaurant I have ever worked at there is someone who you just wish was not there. In restaurants childish, juvenile behavior seems to be accepted, again, in every restaurant I have ever worked in. It is hard to be disliked in a restaurant as people will gang up on you and do what they need to to get you fired. It is very clear in a restaurant if you are liked or not. I can only imagine in an office setting where you have to behave professionally, how much more stressful that could be, dealing with the person that makes things more difficult. So glad that your "white blood cell" as Steve put it is gone.

Thanks, Rob, and all!:D

I was always nice to the "white blood cell." Most of my interactions with her were via email, so that helped, plus her being at the separate corporate office.

The new department manager is a nice guy, but it turns out he knows very little on the transportation side. He only knows customs-related.a uff. Most of our shipments are sent via ocean, and I run circles around him. My old manager (who now handles VIP accounts and we work very closely with) said his knowledge of customs stuff is sometimes iffy. She comes to me with all questions (I can find answers if I don't know them).

There are some interesting things behind the scenes with this person leaving that I wish I could talk about publicly, but can't. Nothing illegal but sure makes for a good soap.opera. :)

Ha, replace "restaurant" with "radio station" - we have the exact same scenario.

In every office I've worked in, there have been passive aggressive people, bullies, introverts, non-stop talkers, saboteurs, chronic liars, insecure endless joke-tellers, people who run to HR with personal gripes, people who form cliques, ostracizers, blame-shifters, people who steal, people who yell, people who treat women like $hit, managers who badmouth their own employees, etc. Maybe the toxic behavior has a veneer of professionalism, but it's toxic nonetheless.

At my station (which is also an office) they recently got rid of the two loudest people. Most of the team are introverts, and these people just made them all very uncomfortable. So bam, now they're gone. I think it was a knee-jerk reaction. Yes, people have to fit into the culture, but what's most important is whether or not they can make a contribution. After dealing with a group of introverts for five years, I thought the loud guys were a breath of fresh air. At least you could say hello without scaring the living crap out of them!

But yeah, in a nutshell, I'd say people are people whatever the environment. After your description of working in a restaurant, though, that's def. one field I won't be looking to switch to!

I think that is good you can stay, moves are huge. It sounds like you were always doing a good job but the environment was stressful. I also think it is good you can stay with your church community.

I had a gut feeling during all of this that in the end you would not need to move, hmm.

Steve, when I've worked other places and a troublesome person was on vacation, I always felt it was like a mini-vacation for me!
