I found this video so helpful in understanding how to end/help the above conditions. My personal success story is I finally ended my months' long bout of insomnia by using something as simple as magnesium...

Thanks HappyHiker...........that is an excellent link. I have found it to be true in my life also.
I would get alot of irregular heartbeats when my magnesium would get low.......plus other symptoms. Unfortunately, my Internist said low magnesium wouldn't cause it......which made him look pretty uninformed.
Once, when my irregular heartbeat got really bad, I went to the E.R. Fortunately the doctor there was up on things, and gave me I.V. magnesium. It immediately got rid of the ectopic beats and I didn't have them for 2 weeks after!
In the video, Dr. Osborne said some really good things. In modern medicine, we do chase our tails all the time, instead of addressing the core problems.
Just curious.........how do you take your magnesium? I take it as Mag citrate, 200mg twice a day (with my calcium). But sometimes it gives me diarrhea, even though I really need to raise my levels. And we lose alot of magnesium when we have diarrhea.
I'm glad Dr. Osborne mentioned that a serum test for Magnesium doesn't tell an accurate story of what's in the cells. I wonder if the Spectracel test is new? If not too expensive, I would love to have it done. I feel like I constantly have to keep up on my magnesium.
Thanks again for sharing this link, and I'm glad its working for you!

I had all of those symptoms except the high BP, and magnesium did the trick for me as well. I am glad the Internet is around these days to help spread the word. I went to doctors for years with various heart condition diagnosis but the root cause was really a magnesium deficiency. I ended up finding out about magnesium from alternative health books.
When anyone in my family has trouble sleeping we take Milk of Magnesia. The MoM works for my family members with migraines, too.
We have done the Spectracell testing in the past but it got to be a bit expensive as our insurance did not cover it.

Me, I'm taking my magnesium in two doses, with one mid-morning and one an hour or so before bedtime. And I'm taking 500 mg. along with zinc, potassium and some calcium (250 mg).
I've read that Magnesium Glycinate is less likely to produce loose stools...but I'm taking plain old Magnesium Citrate capsules (it's inexpensive and readily purchased at the local drugstore) and I did have that problem mentioned the first two days before my body acclimated.
But each of our body's is different, so you may want to Google around and see what other health folks mention for a proper starting dosage. I was just so very tired (pun intended) of little sleep that I went for a power dose as I wanted/needed to sleep.
Many people seem to find Natural Calm a good form to take and have had good results...not tried it myself but it's sure getting some favorable comments and seemingly worthwhile happy results.
Thanks HappyHiker.
I've used Natural Calm before. Seemed to work pretty well.

I have a rapid heartbeat and, also, found on my own about magnesium. The doc wanted to do either surgery or horrible meds. I find that Calm powder works best. Perhaps, because they say, as we get older it is easier to assimilate liquids.
We've recently started juicing, about the same time the garden came on full blast, so I've been reading up on micro and macro nutrients. Its pretty amazing how a simple imbalance of something can throw the entire machine out of whack. DW is an insomniac so I'll forward this on to her. Thanks for the link HappyHiker.

Exactly so. It's amazing how finely tuned our bodies need to be for optimum performance...kind of like a car, yes? If you have fouled up spark plugs, the car's going to run ragged--maybe even stall or refuse to start.
The more I read about magnesium, potassium, zinc and calcium the more I wish regular, non-alternative, Western-style doctors would be better educated about their crucial role in so many mental and physical functions of our bodies. Bringing these minerals in balance (especially in connection with our over-consumption of sodium) could prevent a lot of misery. And also prevent a lot of prescribing of heavy-hitting pharmaceuticals. Unnecessary medications in many cases.
When magnesium ends our insomnia, we don't need Ambien.
If my medical doctor had warned me that my blood pressure medication with its diuretic component could wash the magnesium and zinc out of my body, I might have eliminated my months' long bout of insomnia. And I blame myself for not doing the due diligence until recently. Seems we must be our own best healer.
Meanwhile, I really do recommend trying magnesium for insomnia and rapid heart beat, depression, mental agitation and restlessness...something like 80% of we Americans are deficient in mag...no wonder we're insomniacs and anxious.
Thanks for attention to this problem. Can anyone tell what sources of magnesium in food have helped them the most?

From this article http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/foods-high-in-magnesium.php, it looks as though eating 1/2 cup of pumpkin/squash seeds and one square of dark chocolate will help you exceed your daily mag requirement. Oatmeal is high in mag, too. That's a fine breakfast, come to think of it...a big bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with pumpkin seeds and topped with almond milk (almonds are high in mag) and some shaved dark chocolate.

Soup with assorted beans, veggies and a little meat work well for me. I think the simmering and the liquid in the soup makes the nutrients easier to digest. I also like to snack on bananas. I have noticed I get more edgy if we run out of bananas. Nuts are good, too.
I don't take any supplements unless I am having specific symptoms. Also avoiding too much coffee and highly acid foods also seems to help keep away the symptoms associated with magnesium depletion.
If we are out of bananas, I drink too much coffee, and don't have soup or a lot of veggies I feel like a different person - more wired, sleeping less, and more anxiety.
