Personally, I would have to be pretty desperate to make money by being a medical test subject. Different story from selling blood or donating your body to science AFTER your dead. When you typically, sign up, you sign a waiver that at the minimum puts a limit on liability, if they kill you or the drug(s) have unforseen side effects (kills an organ or something).
You and he may consider it frugal, but how one measures risk, makes me think otherwise of this.
And there is a big difference in Phase I-IV testing. Phase I is test of new drugs on limited number of healthy humans. Phase II is highly controlled on the specific illness. Phase III is for wider population "testing". Phase I is the most dangerous. I would do Phase II if necessary to try and bring a new drug to market for a specific illness or condition I might have.

I hear you. When he told me, I told him not to do it. But he is 30 years old and does what he wants!
Anyway, what is done is done, and I am proud of him. Way prouder of him for selling the story than selling his brain cells. That gives me the fon-tons.
