View Full Version : You never know when it's your time
A friend from church died early yesterday morning. She had chronic immune system issues going back 20+ years.
She didn't have to die, though.
She was getting better and was going to go into rehab very soon. She was eating breakfast alone in her hospital room yesterday, choked, food went down wrong pipe and there was no one to help her. They even did a trach on her, but they weren't able to save her.
She had a DH, a daughter who had just started college 4 hours away and a 12 year old son.
:(
I am so sad for the loss of your friend. You will all be in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this. Very sorry for your loss. Seems so unfair that she was in a hospital and this was the outcome.
Tussie, my friend had been slowly getting better. We all thought perhaps it was something sudden, like perhaps her kidneys giving out.
But this?
<sigh>

Lately I have heard of a few cases of people going into the hospital for one thing and then dying from another thing. My Mom had a friend who went in for a hip replacement and then when recuperating from the surgery in the hospital, she had a heart attack and died. So very sad, and I bet that you feel shocked right now along with the pain of it all. Very sorry...
Yes, we all do. She was a favorite. She had some physical challenges caused by her immune issues, but we never heard her complain. She had a great sense of humor and this fantastic belly laugh.

I am so sorry for your loss Tradd.
I'm so sorry to hear that, Tradd.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Tradd, thanks for including us in this intensely sad part of your life, and telling us so much about it. We wish your friend and all who love her hadn't had to go through this--you're right, lie and it's duration are so unpredictable. I wish it were otherwise.

It's so sad when someone seems to die before their time. Blessings to you and her family.
Yep, you never know.
What a very sad thing Tradd. Her poor family. Life is so strange. You're right........none of us ever know what the next moment will bring.
Such a shame, Tradd. I'm very sorry. When someone dies unexpectedly and they're younger than 80, it does give you pause and makes you realize how life does have its inexplicable, seemingly random occurrences . Carpe diem.. that's all we can do.
Tradd, that is SO sad...especially for the 12 yr-old son. Very sad.
Yes, we just never know, do we? Really puts things in perspective...makes you think.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well.
That really is a shock when someone dies unexpectedly. My condolences to you and the family.

Oh Tradd, I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. The reason behind it makes it so random and unfair that it must be difficult for you to process. ((hugs))
Very sad news. At least her church family can bring some comfort in the days ahead.
Thank you, all! It means a great deal.
This is so sad, and her family so young, too.

I firmly believe that everyone has 'a time' but that does not lessen the sense of unfairness, the tragedy and the pain felt by those left to deal with the loss. Sorry, Tradd.
It sounds like her passing would have been a loss at any time, but such a shame so unexpectedly and unnecessarily when you were anticipating a recovery and return home. I am so sorry for you, her family, and other friends.
