But Miss Kansas, in the Armed Services, was interesting with all of her tattooes. They wouldn't let her do her real talent, though--archery.
DH watched 5 minutes of it and passed along info about her.
What I can't believe is the racist, bigoted twitter feed that followed the crowning of the first Asian American (she's Indian).
And the fact that they call the swimsuit competition a "health and fitness" competition. Sorry, not a very credible euphemism.
And I can't believe I watched the whole thing--but I grew up on it, (and I even worked on it when I worked at NBC) so there's a nostalgia factor. And it came back to AC--go Jersey!

Why would you not believe it? You don't think the women have a right to choose if they want to enter a "beauty contest"? (in the end, it is all about money, anyway)
Yes. The winner will put the scholarship money to good use in medical school.
ETA: Beauty contests are quaintly anachronistic, but as long as they still exist, some will use them to further their educations and/or careers.
DH asked me why they don't have handsome contests for men. I couldn't answer that one.

They do! It's called "The CW" on tv.

Calendars, male strip clubs, Romance novel covers, etc, etc, etc. (sex sells on both sides of the isle)
I wish I could remember which comedian said it (I think Jimmy Carr), but the guys who would be vain enough to enter your contest are after your brother.
